5G networks are digital cellular networks, which have their service area covered by providers divided into small geographical areas known as cells.
Analog signals which represent sound and images are digitized in the telephone, converted by an analog to digital converter, and transmitted as a stream of bits.
So, the 5G wireless devices in a cell communicate by radio waves with a local antenna array. Also, it has a low power automated transceiver in the cell. It has frequency channels assigned by the transceiver from a river of frequencies reused in other cells.
Also, the local antennas are connected with the telephone network and the internet by a high bandwidth optical fiber or wireless backhaul connection. In other cell networks, a mobile device crossing from one cell to the other is automatically handed off seamlessly to the new cell.
The 5G can support over a million devices per square kilometer, while 4G supports just 100, 000 devices per square kilometer.
Moreover, the new 5G wireless devices also have 4G LTE capacity, as the new networks used 4G for initially establishing the connection with the cell, including locations where 5g access is not available.
5G Network Countries in World
Many countries are striving hard to make the 5g network available for their citizens. The top three countries that lead the world in building and deploying 5g tech are South Korea, China, and the US. Other smaller countries making significant steps in bringing the network are countries like Turkey, Sweden, and Estonia.
5G Network in South Korea
Sour Korea is currently leading other countries when it comes to 5g deployment. In January 2020, it launched the network in 85 cities. Government officials estimate 90% of Korea’s mobile users will be using the network by 2026.
The countries’ success comes from the collaboration of three carriers that have worked on 5G deployment(LG Uplus, KT Corp, and SK Telecom).
5G Network in China
China is the second country with 5g in most cities. As of January 2020, it deployed the network in 57 cities. It’s the three major wireless carriers in China; China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom.
Now, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Shanghai are the cities with the best network coverage.
5G Network in the United States
The FCC spectrum frontiers order laid the groundwork for the use of 5G technology in the US. The next generation of technology provides a greater number of spectrum for wireless Communication, smaller sizes of wireless cells, and more modulation schemes.
The network gives at least one gigabytes each second for connection speeds, shorter delay than that of the 4g, and millimeter-wave bands for supporting applications requiring large capacity.
However, the US carriers AT&T Inc. (T), Verizon Communications, Sprint Corp, and T-mobile US are actively developing, testing, and deploying 5g technology. Thus, as of January 2020,5g is available in 50 cities in the US.
Sprint Corp has launched mobile 5g in Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington DC, Kansas City, Dallas-Fort Worth, Phoenix, and New York City. While AT&T has made its mobile 5g+ network live for consumers in parts of 35 cities and 190 markets.
5G Network In India
5g phones are currently available in India but it’ll take time to build the 5g networks. The technology operators need to test the technology to acquire the necessary radio spectrum from the Indian government in an auction.
Then invest and build out the network infrastructure before they’ll be ready to provide services. The 5g networks were once expected in India by late 2020 or early 2021. But it’s now highly unlikely that that’ll happen before the middle of 2021.
According to a network equipment vendor based in Sweden, the 5g service is probably going to be available in India only from 2022.
The 5G network speed is going to range from 50Mbit/s to over a giggabit/s. Thus, its fastest 5g is mmWave. As of July, the mmWave had a top speed of 1.8 G on AT&T’s 5GN. The Sub 6 GHz 5g is by far the most common, usually it’ll deliver between 100 and 400 Mbit/s.
Although it’ll have much farther reach than mmWave, most especially outdoors. The low band spectrum provides the highest range. Therefore, a greater coverage area for a given website, but it’s slower than the others.
5g New radio speed in sub 6 GHz bands can be a bit higher that is higher than the 4g with a similar amount of spectrum and antennas.
