Facebook notification gives you updates on what’s happening on Facebook. Most times, you can have different notifications as you have them on your desktop. However, you can’t turn off your Facebook notifications completely, but you can change some parts of it.

Anytime you have a new notification on your profile, you’ll see a red bubble appearing with a number of notifications that you’ve received.
It can be notifications for friend requests, chat messages, likes on posts and so on. When people react to your posts, you get notifications on your profile.

It gives you news updates on what is happening in your Facebook account through the profile bars/icons.
If you always pay attention to the notifications, you’ll get all the updates on your profile timely. It’s true that most people don’t access this part of their Facebook because they don’t know how to turn it on.
When and Where to get Facebook notifications
You can receive notification as a text to your mobile phone or through email for all updates on Facebook. If someone tagged you in a post or sends you a message, friend request or an invite to like or join a group, you’ll also receive a notification.
How to know when you have a notification
Once you have a notification, you’ll see a red bubble showing on the top of the profile. it reveals the number of notifications with the red bubble and the number of notifications.
Various types of Facebook Notifications
- Red alert Notification- This one pops up above your menu when you get a message. It’s represented by two human heads, globe shape, and messenger icon (on Facebook messenger).
A friend’s requests notification pops up on the icon when you’re online and the same is when you get a message notification. Every notification comes over the globe icon onto your facebook profile. Just click on the icon to view your notification. After viewing each one, the number of red bubble notification will reduce.
- The email notification-You’ll get this kind of notification via your email address. It can be a change of password or a notification about someone wanting to hack your Facebook account. Sometimes, it can be a friend’s request.
- Push Notification- You’ll get this type when you’re not actively on Facebook. It comes up to re-engage you with your friends on Facebook.
The Notification settings
If you find it notifications disturbing, and time-consuming in checking them, you can turn it off. Now, to turn it off, go to your Facebook settings and click on the 3 lines at the bottom right and tap on the notification.
Go to the turn on or off notifications and switch off the notifications. From here too, you can change your email settings, edit the sound for push notifications.
However, on the desktop, this feature is seen in settings like that of the privacy settings.
