- First of all, sign in to your Gmail account
- Tap on the Gear icon at the top right-hand corner of the page and choose ‘’Mail Settings’’
- You’ll locate a general tab section, scroll down and look for the Signature option.
- Now, compose and add your default signature to the box. The box comes with a WYSIWYG editor making it easier for you to tweak the signature the way you want it. You can select the color of your choice and even add images to the signature.
- After this, you’ll now click on the save changes options and you’re done.
What makes a Good or Ideal email signature
There isn’t a particular way or type of Gmail signature that’s seen as the best format. Though, you can use different things on your signature depending on how you want it. You may choose to use your Website, company address, quotation or phone number. But ensure that your signature isn’t more than five lines to keep it simple.
Disabling your signature on certain emails
If for any reason you want to disable or remove your signature from any of your emails, you can do so and it’s quite easy to do. Just do so, by deleting the signature while composing the email you wish to send. Another way to achieve this is to turn off the signature option.
Your Gmail signature character has a limit. The maximum character is 10,000 for good text signatures. Then, you can add your default Gmail signatures to all your outgoing emails.
Changing of your signature on your Android device
To achieve this, follow the below steps:
- Tap to open your Gmail account
- Click on the menu settings
- Select the Google account you want to change
- Click the mobile signature
- You can edit the text to make your changes. You can put the text on multiples lines and click at the end of the line. Then, tap on Ok.
Changing your Email signature on iphone or iPad
Using Gmail signature is different on the iPhone or iPad as is obtainable in Android phones or the Gmail on the web. Here are steps to change your Gmail signature from your iOS devices.
- Open your Gmail app on your iPhone or iPad
- Click the settings in the menu
- Select the Google account you want to change
- Click on the signature settings and turn on the signature setting
- Then, make your changes and click on Back to save your changes.
Troubleshooting with your email signature
If you have challenges like not being able to add text formatting to your signature, you may be working in plain text mode. Just turn it off. To do this, follow the steps below:
- Choose to compose to open a new message
- Tap on the more options
- Then, remove the check next to plain text mode.
